I hope Santa was good to you!

On Christmas eve we went to the Museum of Science & Industry to see their Annual Christmas Around the World exhibit which features 51 trees from around the world. You can check out some of the pics I took here.

We stayed Christmas night at an Embassy Suites downtown and we ate Christmas dinner at the Weber Grill on State Street.

Dinner was superb! Valerie and I fell in love with a speciality drink they offer. It's called Spiked S'Mores. Basically, Absolut Vanilla, Godiva White Chocolate Liquor, Hot Chocolate, topped with chocolate chips, and marshmallows which are torched a bit with a lighter gun to give it that melted smores taste. Poured into a Graham Cracker Rimmed Glass. It's delectable!

The next morning we went to the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium. The Shedd Aquarium was amazingly busy and I'm glad we were able to check out the Einstein exhibit at the Field. I didn't get to take as many pics as I would have liked (the family isn't as patient as I am while taking pics lol) so I'm going to have to be sure to go back soon so I can take my sweet time.

I hope all went well for you guys!

Well... today is LORD OF THE RINGS day!!!

I saw the 10:45am show at my local Regal. I'm glad I got there a 1/2 hour early because, while the theater wasn't full, all the good spots were taken by the time the movie started.

Three and a half hours later I had experienced the final chapter in Peter Jackson's trilogy and let me say, not only is this the best of the three movies, it's the best movie I've seen all year (and I've seen a lot!) If this movie doesn't win Best Picture and Best Director, Best Actor & supporting it will show how completely out of touch the Academy Awards really are!

The complete trilogy is simply a masterpiece. It IS cinematic history. It shows that New Line Cinema has guts. The gamble they made by producing all three movies at the same time could have cost them the company if they weren't a success.

If you haven't seen the first two, you MUST see them (in order) before seeing this movie. This is NOT a standalone movie. Everyone else... RUSH OUT AND SEE THIS MOVIE RIGHT NOW! DO NOT WAIT!! I will see this a couple more times before it leaves theaters!

My Politically correct holiday greeting to you...

Please accept without obligation, express or implied, these best wishes for an environmentally safe, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, and gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday as practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice (but with respect for the religious or secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or for their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all) and further for a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated onset of the generally accepted Papal-reformed Julian, aka ‘Gregorian’ calendar year (including, but not limited to, the Christian calendar, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures). The preceding wishes are extended without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform, or sexual preference of the wishee(s)

(thanks to a tivo forum post for that lol)

I FINALLY got the new Digital Camera!

It's the new Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR.

Here's a quick rundown on the specs...

6.3 megapixels
Optical Resolution: 3072 x 2048 pixels
Sensitivity: Equivalent to ISO 100-1600
Burst Rate: 2.5 fps up to 4 shots

I was able to use a 10% off Best Buy Coupon so I saved $100. It's so much faster than my Coolpix I can't even tell you! As soon as I get some decent pics worthy of posting, I'll upload some here.
